Why Does Mr. House Hate The Brotherhood?

While working for Mr. House, he’ll ask you to wipe out the Mojave Brotherhood of Steel. But why does Mr. House hate The Brotherhood?

Mr. House has hate for the Brotherhood because they wouldn’t accept his robot army. The Brotherhood hoards Pre-War technology, and House finds their knightly-attitude to be ridiculous.

House considers them to be “emotionally unstable techno-fetishists” who are dangerous.

Mr. House explains his hate for The Brotherhood

While working for Mr. House, he’ll assign you to locate and destroy remnants of the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel.

House says the New California Republic (NCR) “nearly did the job” at Helios One a few years ago. Yet, there seems to be survivors. He says the Brotherhood’s “fanatical views” on technology are bound to oppose House’s regime.

Before heading off, the Courier can ask House more about the Brotherhood of Steel. House says they’re a “terrorist group, basically.” They’re militant, quasi-religious fanatics obsessed with hoarding Pre-War technology, House says.

The Brotherhood don’t hoard all technology, House admits. They are not seen raiding hospitals to cart away Auto-Docs or armfuls of prosthetic organs.

Instead, the Brotherhood prefers technology that puts people into the hospital, House says.

Further explanation

The player can outright ask why House hates the Brotherhood so much. He says he hates them because they’re ridiculous. House says they “galavant around” the Mojave, pretending to be Knights of Yore.

They did pretend, House explains, until the NCR showed them that “ideological purity and shiny power armor” don’t count for much when you’re outnumbered 15:1.

House ends the conversation by stating the world has no use for “emotionally unstable techno-fetishists.”

Should the player ask House for a diplomatic solution, he’ll scoff at the suggestion. House says the Brotherhood are a “coterie of bulging-eyed fanatics” who think all Pre-War technology belongs to them.

The Brotherhood will never accept the use of a robot army to defend New Vegas, House assumes. Mr. House has large plans for New Vegas that span centuries into the future, all using technology.

If the player has already discovered Hidden Valley, they can bring it up to House.

House says that since 2278, he’s lost five roaming Securitrons near Hidden Valley. He didn’t receive clear video of the incidents, but it appears they were attacked with energy weapons.

So that’s the answer. Mr. House has hate for the Brotherhood because they wouldn’t support his robot army, and he considers their culture to be ridiculous.
