What Is The Curse Mark On Sasuke?

The source of all his evil power, what is the curse mark on Sasuke?

The curse mark on Sasuke is named the Cursed Seal of Heaven. Orochimaru infiltrated the Forest of Death during the Chunin Exams, placing the curse mark on Sasuke. The mark allows Sasuke to draw in more power, but at the cost of losing his will to Orochimaru.

Sasuke ultimately decided to keep abusing the powers of the mark to increase his strength. His sensei, Kakashi, used the Evil Sealing Method to control some of the curse mark’s spread. Kakashi took Sasuke under his wing during this time to teach him the Chidori, a technique that Kakashi hoped would satisfy Sasuke’s hunt for power.

Sasuke’s second-level seal transformation involved a large buff in strength, as well as a gray monstrous form. He achieved this seal level with help from the Sound Four. The group traveled to Sasuke to explain the opportunity in expanding his seal and the overall benefits of falling under Orochimaru’s command. Sasuke left and did not return to the village for some time.

Orochimaru placed the mark on Sasuke as a gift to enhance his strength. He took advantage of Sasuke’s desire to achieve revenge on his brother, and Orochimaru knew Sasuke would give in to being his vessel in order to complete that goal.

How Did Sasuke Get Rid of The Mark?

Sasuke got rid of the curse mark when Itachi removed it with the Sword of Totsuka. Itachi used the sword to remove Sasuke’s Cursed Seal of Heaven while imprisoning Orochimaru inside it. Itachi’s Susanoo holds the sword, and the weapon can also be used for normal striking attacks.

If Sasuke never received the mark, it would have been more difficult for him to quickly obtain the power he desired. Learning the Chidori from Kakashi did not satisfy Sasuke. The temptations of pushing the curse mark become his priority. He also would not have felt drawn to searching out Orochimaru, as the mark involved manipulating Sasuke to do so.

Sasuke gets the curse mark removed in episode #138 of Naruto Shippuden, titled “The End.” The mark is named the Cursed Seal of Heaven and was given to Sasuke by Orochimaru. Sasuke does not have the curse mark in the new Boruto series.
