Is Raul A Good Companion?

There’s plenty of different companions to choose from in Fallout: New Vegas, but is Raul a good companion?

Raul is a good companion because he doesn’t prefer a faction and provides 50% less weapon degradation for the player. You can bring him anywhere and take advantage of better-kept equipment at all times.

He’s also a great fighter and has a funny personality to boot.

Raul is a good companion for any faction

A large reason that Raul is a good companion is because of his indifference to factions. He has positive things to say about them all, which allows the player to bring him along anywhere.

For example, Raul allows you to side with the Legion. He has some positive things to say about them based on his time in Arizona. He’s one of the few companions that won’t be upset.

Does The Legion Hate Ghouls?

Raul claims the Legion helped clean up Arizona, as raider-factions controlled and caused hysteria on the roads. Despite their ruthless nature, the Legion were at least able to bring some semblance of order to the state.

You can work alongside the Legion and Raul won’t complain.

This applies to every other faction as well. Raul, in general, is not very opinionated. This may be due to his time as a Ghoul and the equal discrimination he’s faced from all groups.

Combat and companion perk

Raul is an exceptionally great fighter. His special .44 Magnum revolver is an incredibly powerful weapon, and he’ll be mowing down any foes you can across.

One of the best features of having Raul as a companion is his passive perk, “Regular Maintenance.” This perk allows your equipment to degrade at a slower rate of 50%.

Words can hardly express how valuable this is. If you’re a player with a lower Repair skill, or you’re simply passionate about Repair and want to continually maintain great equipment, this perk is excellent.

So that’s the answer. Raul is a good companion because he doesn’t prefer a faction and provides 50% less weapon degradation for the player.
