Does Naruto Teach Boruto Sage Mode?

An elite type of jutsu that helped him defeat Pain, Naruto’s Sage Mode is a force to be reckoned with. Despite it proving so useful, there doesn’t seem to be much interest in the technique being passed down to any new generations. Does Naruto teach Boruto Sage Mode?

No, Naruto does not teach Boruto Sage Mode. At no point in the Boruto manga or anime does Naruto teach his son Sage Mode. It appears to be a technique that he intends to keep to himself.

Naruto does use Sage Mode in Boruto. Yet, he only does so after losing Kurama. Time will tell if Naruto counts on Sage Mode as his most useful technique again. If he does, there’s a possibility he could teach it to Boruto. As of now, he has not.

Does Naruto Use Sage Mode in Boruto?

In chapter #409, Naruto is training at Mount Myōboku. The elder toad, Fukasaku, is training him in the ways of Sage Mode. It’s all to prepare for the upcoming conflict against Pain.

Fukasaku says that opposed to ninjutsu, where you utilize your own internal energy, Sage Jutsu involves utilizing outside energy.

A ninja performs ninjutsu by manipulating chakra created from mixing mental and physical energies. Sage Jutsu, Fukasaku explains, involves taking the internally generated chakra and adding it to the natural energy from outside. The final result is an even more powerful chakra.

Naruto’s ninjutsu, genjutsu, and even taijutsu all have a tremendous boost while using Sage Jutsu.

Fukasaku demonstrates the usefulness of Sage Jutsu by lifting a ridiculously heavy sculpture of a toad. The toad informs him that he’s soon to see natural energy himself.

So that’s the answer. Naruto does not teach Boruto Sage Mode at this point in the story. Throughout both the Boruto manga and anime series, he is never taught Sage Mode by his father. Now that Kurama is gone, Sage Mode has become more relevant. Perhaps, there’s a chance this training could come up.
