Mirio becomes quirkless after protecting Eri from a Quirk-Destroying Bullet, shot by Yakuza member Shin under the command of Overhaul. He continued to defend Eri after losing his quick, holding Overhaul back until Deku, Nighteye, and Eraserhead arrived as reinforcements.

The pro heroes were hopeful Eri’s quirk would develop enough to reverse the Quirk-Destroying Bullet’s effects on Mirio, recovering his quirk. There was originally no time frame for that option. Overhaul intended to create Quirk-Restore bullets to sell to the heros after removing their quirks, but this is also not a doable option for Le Million at this time.
