Doing a Naruto rewatch and wondering about the fate of some of its characters? Although there are a few notable deaths in the series, not every ninja who graduated alongside Naruto met their untimely demise.

Does Choji kill Jirobo?

Yes, Choji killed Jirobo. The Sound ninja overwhelmed Choji at first, but he used the Akimichi clan’s special Three Coloured Pills to buff his own strength and take Jirobo out. Choji tells Jirobo while he punches him out that you can make fun of his weight, but you can’t make fun of his best friend Shikamaru.

Who did Choji marry?

Choji married Karui, a kunoichi from Kumogakure who emigrated to Konohagakure. Karui first appeared in the Pain’s Assault arc, but gained more screen time during the Five Kage Summit arc in which she attempts to gather information on then Leaf Village rogue ninja Sasuke Uchicha for kidnapping her master, Killer Bee. Choji and Karui had a child named Chōchō who appears as a side character in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Near Death Experiences

Choji vs. Jirobo

This fight is best remembered for Choji’s use of the Butterfly Bullet Bombing. A powerful technique that was strong enough to kill Jirobo in his Cursed Seal Level 2 form. Choji ate his clan’s “Three Coloured Pills” which, when eaten, turn his body fat into chakra. Eating the pills bring damage to Choji’s body, but the Medical Corps with direction from Tsunade are able to restore him to consciousness after the fight.

Jirobo was branded with a powerful cursed seal from Orochimaru, which increases his physical strength as the seal it morphs, moving to a Level 2 Cursed seal form that massively changes his appearance and brings ridiculous strength for the power scaling of the Naruto series at that point in time.

Team 7 and Kakashi vs. Hidan and Kakuzi

Choji struggles in his fight against Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzi, eventually being caught by Kakuzi’s extendable grasp and is choked until Shikamaru’s quick thinking frees him. Choji was able to use a few impressive techniques before his capture. This fight shows off his Spiked Human Bullet and Super Open Hand Slap techniques.

No, Choji does not die in Naruto. He is still alive and continues to appear in new Boruto episodes to this day.
